Job Summary

This is a 9-month faculty position at a health sciences college. Primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate and graduate students, student advising, scholarship, and service. Position begins August 2019. Position is located at Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, VA. This is not a virtual position.

JOB SCOPE:

Teach healthcare administration courses for undergraduate and graduate programs and serve as an academic advisor. Plans, implements and evaluates academic curriculum along with assigned teaching responsibilities. Actively engages in scholarship and service activities. Works collaboratively and communicates with students, faculty, and staff and healthcare organizations. Maintains regular on-campus office hours.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: Doctoral degree in health administration (PhD or DHA) or MHA or MBA with a doctoral degree in a related field is required. Degrees must be from a regionally accredited college/university.

EXPERIENCE: Experience teaching in a healthcare administration program or five years’ experience as a healthcare manager and evidence of scholarship in healthcare administration is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching or work experience in healthcare finance and/or economics.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Certification in a healthcare management field is desirable. Actively participates in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and other professional organizations.

OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Strong oral and written communication skills. Outstanding leadership and management abilities. Understanding of educational principles and methodologies. Familiarity with CAHME and AUPHA accreditation.
