This is an Oncology/Palliative multifaceted role that consists of project management that includes quality improvement oversight. Selected candidate will function as the quality coordinator for the oncology cancer committee to ensure the Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards is maintained to ensure sustained accreditation. Works as a clinical educator for Adult Oncology/Infusion Clinic/Radiation/Palliative based services. Employee will serve as a chemotherapy/biotherapy resource within the organization.
Supports Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Directs and maintains projects across all oncology servicesrelated to clinical practice, research and education, to include strategy, design, planning, procurement, development, and implementation. Responsible for leading and facilitating significant Oncology/Palliative Care Service change initiatives intended to improve clinical quality, patient safety and/or patient experience in an efficient, effective and timely manner. The position provides leadership in the development and implementation of the organization’s quality improvement, patient safety and risk management priorities and goals. The position will facilitate complex root cause analysis of adverse and sentinel events. The position also requires facilitation of teams or projects associated with accreditation, medical staff, licensure, regulations, clinical initiatives or patient safety strategies.Responsible for budget preparation and project scheduling in coordination with all stakeholders across service lines
Education : Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred. RN with BSN preferred; MSN preferred.
Experience : Minimum of five (5) years leadership or healthcare equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of four (4) years experience in Project Management or recent demonstrated project success of a Carilion multi-department leadership project. . Minimum of four years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse with experience in Oncology and/or Palliative Care preferred.
Licensure/Certification : Oncology certification required. Certification in project management preferred.
Other : Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes.Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to build rapport and establish relationships through strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet computer software and data analysis.
