This position is to manage the daily operations of our clinical compliance program. Examples of areas of responsibility, include but are not limited to: medical necessity, clinical documentation, patient rights and scope of practice. The successful candidate will have a clinical background (e.g. nursing) and direct experience in compliance, accreditation, risk management or other related field.

  1. Leads the assigned compliance specialists in performing activities to prevent, detect and correct organizational integrity and compliance risk with key focus on clinical matters.

  2. Develops and implements key clinical compliance specialty programs to manage risk (e.g. EMTALA, medical necessity, scope of practice, patient rights).

  3. Provides on-going strategic direction and guidance related to the clinical compliance operation functions.

  4. Coordinates with Department leadership and key stakeholders in the development and implementation of the system. Organizational Integrity & Compliance Program. As assigned, actively participates in the Program’s strategic development, planning and associated activities.

  5. Develops and maintains compliance program standards, policies, forms, notices and associated materials to reflect organizational processes and well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  6. Participates in the compliance risk assessment process to identify, prioritize and evaluate integrity/compliance risks. Tracks, trends and reports key findings to identify and address areas of risk.

  7. Leads and participates in activities to prevent and pro-actively manage organizational integrity and compliance concerns. Ensures that designated departments, locations, programs and/or service lines are provided consistent resources and are kept informed of the Program’s activities, to address unique integrity/compliance risks and to provide general integrity/compliance visibility and support.

  8. Receives, leads the investigation and responds to assigned integrity/compliance questions and concerns raised. Develops, implements and/or monitors mitigation plans resulting from integrity/compliance events/risks. Ensures that the sanctions program is applied in a proportionate and consistent manner. As assigned, responds to regulatory inquiries for compliance matters.

  9. Develops integrity and compliance awareness and training initiatives and promotes such awareness throughout the organization.

  10. Performs compliance audits to determine if the organization is complying with its policies, procedures and applicable regulatory standards. Collaborates with impacted parties to develop and implement action plans to address audit findings.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree required.

Experience : Minimum of two years of health care compliance experience in a complex healthcare system or setting with at least 3 years in a management/leadership role and exposure to compliance-related matters.

Licensure/Certification : Clinical licensure, R.N. preferred. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) required upon hire or within 1 year of date of hire.

Other : Excellent oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated knowledge of business practices, with ability to work with minimal supervision, and adapt quickly to change. Skilled in use of personal computers to aid productivity and enhance output.
