Radford University Assistant Professor - Experimental Psychology in Radford, Virginia

Job Summary:

The Department of Psychology in the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences at Radford University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Cognitive and/or Developmental Psychology beginning in Fall 2024. Though the area of specialty is open, preference will be given to individuals with overlapping disciplinary interests to complement those of our current Experimental Psychology faculty.

The Psychology Department offers a large bachelor’s program, a master’s program with concentrations in Experimental and Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and master’s and educational specialist in School Psychology degrees. The successful candidate will primarily support the undergraduate and Experimental Psychology programs, which have a long history of preparing students for further advanced study in psychology and careers in research-related fields. However, the psychology faculty, as a whole, are committed to providing a broad, collegial, collaborative, and supportive environment for building a successful career in a highly student-centered atmosphere.

Candidates must have a strong commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education. The successful applicant will be expected to teach a mix of undergraduate and graduate level courses including behavioral statistics, research methods, and topical courses in research as well as core classes in their specific area of expertise such as development, cognition, sensation and perception, and/or other area-specific courses. Candidates will also be expected to establish an independent program of research, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in department, college, and university governance.

Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. degree by the August 2024 start date.
