Radford University Assistant Director, Experiential Education in Radford, Virginia
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, this position plays a key leadership role in the Career & Talent Development enterprise to develop and implement a comprehensive experiential education program for undergraduate students. Cultivate partnerships with employers, internship coordinators and faculty on campus to implement a consistent process of offering internships to students for both credit and noncredit programs. Provide “best in class” individual career advising and group workshops for students including class presentations. Assist students with developing the career search tools necessary to prepare for the competitive internship application process. Explore opportunities for students to participate in micro internships, apprenticeships, co-ops and encourage students to pursue other work-based learning opportunities. Identify creative strategies to engage underrepresented and first-generation students to provide career resources early in their college experience.
Required Qualifications:
Experience advising and coaching college students on self-assessment, career awareness, career exploration, resume writing, career networking, and interviewing skills.
Proven experience to effectively engage students from marginalized backgrounds including first-generation students.
Demonstrated presentation skills and exceptional ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with various people including students, faculty, staff, employers, parents, and other stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make independent decisions exercising sound judgment.
Demonstrated expertise utilizing such software programs including, but not limited to Microsoft Office, Handshake CRM , Career Shift CRM , Big Interview, and Pathway U.
Highly organized with an attention to detail that results in accuracy in daily work, with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
Ability to understand emerging hiring trends by maintaining professional connections and monitoring changing market conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer at least 3 years of experience working in a college and/or university Career Center, Student Success operation, experiential learning working environment, and/or early talent recruiting program with a company or organization.
