Ohio University Open Rank Clinical Professor in the Division of Athletic Training in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions, Division of Athletic Training seeks applications and nominations for a 10-month non-tenure track Clinical Faculty position. This individual will serve as the Program Director for the Master of Science in Athletic Training program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses for the Division of Athletic Training and may be involved in delivering coursework in the Pre-Athletic Training Major and/or online Doctor of Athletic Training program. The candidate will also mentor undergraduate pre-athletic training students, advise MSAT students, and serve on Divisional, College, and University committees. The preferred candidate will have a commitment to contributing to the diversity in the college; including a diversity of education experience incorporating a broad range of teaching strategies which engage students as active participants and involvement in professional organizations related to athletic training.

The MSAT program director will:

Ensure that the CAATE standards are met, including the program director’s responsibilities as outlined in the Standards.

Serve as the contact person for the professional and pre-athletic training programs.

Oversee the development and delivery of courses in the MSAT program.

Work with the Division Coordinator to schedule teaching responsibilities.

Recruit and retain students, including for the Pre-AT and 3+2 tracks.

Provide academic advising to undergraduate students and graduate students, and coordinate advising assignments.

Provide service to the Division, School, and College to include activities such as membership on committees.

Work cooperatively with the Director of Athletic Training Services and clinical staff ATs.

Regularly participate in commencement and other student award events and receptions sponsored by the school and college.

These duties are subject to change depending on the needs of the division or college, typically at the time of annual performance evaluation.

This position has an expectation of 50% teaching, 30% clinical (program administration), 10% scholarship, and 10% service. The workload distribution can be negotiated upon hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. An earned doctoral degree (in athletic training or related field)

  2. Contemporary expertise in the field of athletic training

  3. Certification and good standing with the Board of Certification

  4. Eligibility for licensure as an AT in the state of Ohio by the time of employment.

  5. Previous clinical practice as an athletic trainer

  6. Previous full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities in an accredited program

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience as a CAATE Program director, Assistant PD, or Clinical Coordinator

  2. Successful record of graduate-level teaching, advising, and mentorship.

  3. Documented history of scholarship and other creative activities

  4. Additional certifications or areas of expertise (e.g., manual therapy)
