Ohio University Director of Real Estate in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

This position will provide leadership for the strategic planning and implementation across the full breadth of Ohio University’s Real Estate matters. Duties involve management of daily and long-term strategic real estate goals, serving as the expert in evaluation and negotiation of acquisitions, easements, leases, and dispositions of property for the University and a resource for University Foundation. Lead the university’s real estate office to develop and update procedures and policies as appropriate. The manager will work with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including university employees and leaders, brokers, developers, appraisers, attorneys, state and local public officials and personnel at other institution.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop long-term real estate portfolio strategies and financial analysis supporting all the University’s academic, research, and service missions. Primary examples of strategic projects include local affordable housing initiatives, P3 projects at our Athens and Regional Campus, and long-term acquisition and disposition strategies.

  • Serve as the expert in real estate principles and practices, methods and procedures used in real estate transactions, regulations, laws, policies guidelines and practices. Uses negotiation, project structuring and financing, market analysis, real estate market and trend analysis, and other real estate strategies. Keep up with State of Ohio real estate and Department of Administrative Services policies, processes, and project implantation practices

  • Plan and execute property site selection, acquisition, development, and disposition by monitoring strategic real estate portfolio and responding to new business or academic unit initiatives

  • Manage and oversee the University Real Estate project implantation process. Including asset management of off campus leased properties. Manage communications between tenants and landlords throughout real estate contract negotiations, space build out and move in practices. Manage relationship between tenant and landlord for all leases both as lessee and lessor. Ensure compliance with all lease requirements both as lessor and lessee. Manage other property encumbrances, restrictions, licenses, access agreements,

surveys, and mineral rights.

  • Work closely with the Office of University Advancement and the University Foundation to assess and process real estate gifts properties. Participate in various university and community committees, additionally networking with community leaders, businesses, and adjacent property owners

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Architecture or Related Field

  • Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

  • Supervisory or managerial experience

*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree- MBA , MPA

Advertised Salary:

The target salary range is $95,101 to $128,385 commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience while considering internal equity.
